The arts of Africa, the Middle East, the Americas and the Pacific are also represented in the Art Gallery of NSW’s collection. Although these are not among our principal collecting areas today, some excellent works have come into the Gallery's collection since our foundation, including Egyptian manuscripts, Iranian miniatures and a small number of pre-Columbian objects as well as several traditional and contemporary African works. There are over 700 objects in our Pacific collection, almost all from the many diverse cultures of Papua New Guinea.
